Picot Edge Two Needle Mittens For Babies


Picot edge: *cast on 5, bind off 2* repeat using cable cast on
Materials:
Size 5 needles
Size 7 needles
Large-eyed tapestry needles
2 stitch markers
Size H crochet hook
1 skein orange 100% cotton yarn
1 skein pink 100% cotton yarn
Pattern(make 2)

With size 5 needles and orange,
  • Work picot edge until there are 30 sts on needle
  • Garter stitch for 2 inches, include picot edge in the measurement

Eyelet Row:

  • *Knit 1, yarn over, k2tog* repeat to end
  • Knit in garter stitch 1 inch, place marker on the last stitch at each end of needle
  • Knit 2 inches in garter stitch
  • *Knit 4, k2tog* repeat to end
  • Knit 1 row
  • *Knit 3, k2tog* repeat to end
  • Knit 1 row
  • *Knit 2, k2tog* repeat to end
  • Knit 1 row
  • *Knit 1, k2tog* repeat to end
  • Knit 1 row
  • *K2tog* repeat to end
  • Place remaining sts on holder

Cut yarn, leaving a 2 foot long tail

Thumb: (make 2)

Go back to marker, pick up and knit 5 sts, moving towards the top of the mitten

  • K6 rows
  • k1, k2tog, k2
  • k2tog twice
  • Bind off sts

Finishing:

With size 7 needles and pink yarn, make a flower.

  • cast on 56 sts
  • *k1, BO7* repeat to end, k1
  • gather sts tog, thread yarn through remaining sts, sew to front of mitten.

Using size H crochet hook and 2 strands of yarn, make a 20" chain.

Fold mitten in half, using the 2 foot tail, thread through remaining sts and sew up side of mitten.

Thread the string through eyelet row. Tie a bow.
